In the current enquiry, ASIO (our spook agency) gave a submission which said it had provided advice to "whole of Government meetings'' that Dr Haneef was not a threat to security, and that there were no grounds to believe Dr Haneef was linked to, or even knew about, the botched June car bombings.

However the former immigration minister, Kevin Andrews, who cancelled the doctor's visa, restated today that he had received no advice from Australia's secret service that Mohamed Haneef posed no terrorist threat.

It seems someone senior in government got that information, and didn't pass it on to Kevin Andrews. I wonder who sat on it, and why?
