A Lehrer web site: here. There is a somewhat obtuse article on this site which was obviously a college student essay that contains material from an interview with Lehrer. A classic choice bit:

Lehrer says he's "often reminded of the old Punch cartoon showing a dying patient forlornly asking the doctor at his bedside, 'Doctor, is there any hope?', to which the doctor replies 'No, why?'" When he is asked to write on current subjects, Lehrer reports feeling like "a resident of Pompeii who has been asked for some humorous comments on lava."
