Hi Liz. SRS is correct about the watering of course. The change in sun with the move to your new office may have stimulated an uneven growth spurt.

I have done as you suggest with cacti. Let the cutting callus over for a few days before planting it in cactus soil mix. It is worth a try if you wish to keep that particular plant. Go easy with watering. They are desert plants for the most part. They want excellent drainage.
