I think it was American Printer or Graphic Arts Monthly that ran an article about a printshop in Amish country -- all the printing presses were water-powered.

When I was growing up in Wisconsin in the '50s & '60s, most of the Amish/Mennonite population was around Holloway in the north central part of the state. The population has expanded considerably since then. The Schulz family farm (farmed by my grandparents and then by my uncle) outside of Colby, WI is now Amish-owned, but the original house and barn are long gone.

I haven't visited Colby since the mid-'70s, so I haven't a clue as to the size of the Amish population currently farming in the area.
