I was serious about the Hutterite colonies being registered as corporations or co-operatives; it is necessary under Alberta law for their method of doing business.

(In Montana, the income of the colony is divided among the members and they pay taxes individually).

Ten years ago, in Alberta the colonies produced one-third of the dairy products, eggs and hogs in the province (didn't look for later figures) from 1.5 million acres and those figures are up. Their success is a source of friction in a few areas. Ten per cent of Canada's milk came from Hutterite operations in 1997.
