Anyone capable of making a serious run at the presidency of the United States is, in some regard, an elitist. It comes with the territory. It's simply not possible to elect a true "commoner" to high political office. All we common rabble can do is try to pick the elitist best able to empathize with our lowly plight. We're sure as hell never gonna get a chance to vote for anyone who actually experiences it.
