Barack Obama demonstrated tonight that he is every bit the President his supporters thought he would be.

His speech was inclusive, insightful, unflinching, and above all, it was founded on clear and good principles that people sensed were the really important ones, while calling for individual and mutual responsibility and an end to the sorry, fragmented and spite-filled divisions that we have seen across the country as well as reflected here.

It was a masterpiece.

I hope it resonates around the world.


McCain has a very, very hard act to follow indeed.
