Thread Name: BS: Hints for Secret Santas - 2008
Subject: RE: BS: Hints for Secret Santas - 2008
1. What is your age range? I am stradling the Great 50/60 Divide although October will tilt me 60s-ward.

2. Gender? Female. Honest. Sian is not a boy's name (whatever some think!); Sion is the boy version.

3. Do you have a favorite color? Blue. and Turquoise. And Navy. And ultramarine. And azure. And ... not baby blue. (Funny, that.) And green - particularly bluey green.

4. Favorite authors/type of book? I like DIY and crafts and stuff, but I don't think I have a 'favourite'.

5. What books have you really been wanting? Nought, but I do like hymn books and books that discuss the background to traditional music (I have "Singing Cowboys & Musical Mountaineers" kind of stuff.) Sort of "ethnomusicology-lite". (Not too many big words!)

6. What type of music do you like? Trad of British Isles & North America

7. What CDs have you really been wanting? Nothing specific but I'm a sucker for archival recordings a la Folkways or Folk Legacy.

8. What movies have you been wanting? (specify VHS if you don't have a DVD player) I probably have most of what I want.

9. What is your t-shirt size? Don't wear 'em!

10. Do you collect anything? if so, what? Hymn books, community songbooks, craftbooks (see hobbies), clutter

11. What are some of your other hobbies? knitting, crocheting, learning english concertina, cooking/baking

12. Do you prefer gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry? silver (and I have pierced ears)

13. Please include anything else you feel is important that would help your Secret Santa know what you would like

I am a great believer in recycling. Past Santas (no names, spare blushes) have sent books which have been previously owned and that's jest fiiiinnnnne with me! Same with CDs, or whatever. I also really miss American Funnies, so feel free to forgo giftwrap in favour of the Sunday sheets!

14. Remember that "negative hints" such as allergies might also be helpful. I can't eat tomato or cucumber (fresh) but I don't think there's a big problem there!

I hereby pledge to do my best by my Santee, and please put me down for a relief Santa should the need arise (although I'm SURE that everyone is going to play the game most excellently this year, disasters can happen ... )
