I swapped out my old flatbed scanner this evening, and the number and tangle of cables and electric cords behind my computer desk is astonishing. The hardest part of this was unthreading the old power cord. There's no removing any of these--they all are employed.

I repositioned the scanner to a new shelf and now I have a basket full of floppies, zip disks, and CDs, most of which get used but that aren't organized. I'm going to have to compress stuff and get this basket off of the floor.

The old scanner works still, slowly, and Goodwill will get it and someone else can fight with it.

I cleaned out my veggie garden, moved out most of the huge leggy and non-productive tomatoes. There are cantaloupe everywhere out there--I don't know how many will mature. I'll put in a lot of compost and dig it in deep, and put in some fall crops. We're due for rain from Gustav the next couple of days so the garden will have to wait, and I have to go into the office, but I'll plan to do some rearranging in the evening. I've been itching to attack my sun room again to make the eBay sales items more reachable. They're still scattered around the house and the sun room is stacked with shipping boxes.
