I am a football fan living in Belgium. I have tickets for the quarter final in Amsterdam where the winners of the group England are in will play the runners up of the group Turkey are in. If that pairing materialises I will not go. In fact, if England are involved at all, no matter who the opposition are, I probably still won't go. Sporting occasions should be enjoyed rather than feared.

However, the peaceful reports from Eindhoven are certainly good news. If Saturday's match against Germany passes off OK I'll think again.

By the way, the way the England team relaxed after going 2-0 up against Portugal and ended up losing 3-2 leads me to wonder if they were taking the weed as well.
