1
A Virxe de Guadalupe
cando vai pola ribeira (2x)
descalciña pola area
parece unha Rianxeira (2x)

Estribillo-
Ondiñas veñen (ondiñas veñen)
Ondiñas veñen e van
non te embarques rianxeira
que te vas a marear (2x)

2
A Virxe de Guadalupe
cando vai para Rianxo
a barquiña que a trouxo
era de pao de laranxo (2x)

3
A Virxe de Guadalupe
quen a fixo moreniña
foi un raiño de sol
que entrou pola ventaniña. (2x)

Often the verses are sung two lines at a time, then repeated; or each verse is sung fully, then repeated.

A Rianxeira

An interesting website, with, among other things, 100 recipes.

English lyrics:

THE VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE

The Virgin of Guadalupe,
while waking at the edge of the sea
barefoot in sand,
just like a Rianxeiran

Refrain:
Water sprites coming
Water sprites coming and going away
will not take you on board, Rianxeiran
or you will have the sea sickness.

The Virgin of Guadalupe
when it* came to Rianxo,
it arrived in a small boat
made out of orange wood.

The Virgin of Guadalupe
What made it* bronze
was a ray of the Sun
Coming in at the window.

Rianxo is a port town in Galicia. The celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe brings many people to the festivities.
The song may be early 19th c. Another version has been adopted by Buenos Aires.

A very ingenious Rianxo tourist website. Many little tricks. Start by clicking the ?. Be sure to click on the little radio on the shelf. You may recognize the Celtic tune. If you click on one of the houses, a 'film" strip comes up, eack image can be enlarged.
