The main difference I see in USA-Canada politics is that Canada actually has an opposition... with a real opposition leader throughout the entire government's term.

Unless the USA president really screws up (imo, aka Bush) the USA President mostly rules with minimal opposition.

I suspect there are some Canadian politicians who would orefer the USA style approach, with little opposition and total confidence in their leadership through the mandate.
