"Boy Suspended for Using Broken Pencil Sharpener"
Set--up: Boy uses broken pencil sharpener to sharpen pencil in class. Apparently the little metal blade was either loose or overly exposed. Boy given 2 day suspension from school for having a blade in school.

Quote--"School administrators are stuck in the precarious position between the district's zero tolerance policy against having weapons at school and common sense." Attributed to a Hilton Head Island Education Spokesman in the "Island Packet."

Comment—When it comes to a choice between common sense and zero tolerance, common sense loses nearly every time.

"Lipstick on Animals"
Sarah Palin tells us the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull is lipstick.
Barack Obama counters that you can put lipstick on a pig, and it's still a pig.
Some Republicans think that this is a direct slam to Gov. Palin.

Comment—She made lipstick and animals fair game.

Comment—Whom does a three hundred pound gorilla wearing lipstick kiss? Anyone she wants to.
