Because all this other bullshit is just so much fun! Sorry to say it, but it's true.

My brother, who is a civilian employee of the US military curretnly living in England, phoned me last week while we were evacuating and, coincidentally, Ms Palin was just starting to become a public figure. His comment: "Man, this just keeps getting better and better ~ what'll be next?"

Of course, all these silly distractions play directly into the interests of the candidate and party with the most to lose were public focus to be kept on serious issues. Which is another way to say that they are in direct opposition to the public interest.

Still, the whole deal is simply much too amusing to ignore.

One of the TV comedians reecntly announced that he was sacrificing his own professional interests by supporting and voting for Obama. Continuation of Republican rule would give him much more material to work with...
