Thread Name: Lyr Req: As I Roved Out
Subject: RE: As I Roved Out
And then there's the sprightly:

As I roved out on a May morning
On a May morning right early
I met my love upon the way
O Lord but she was early

And she sang lilt-a-doodle, lilt-a-doodle,
Lilt-a-doodle day, and she hey-da-lon-da-day
And she hey-da-lon-da-day and sh'londy

Her boots was black and her stockings white,
And her buckles shone like silver;
She had a dark and a-rolling eye
And her earrings tipped her shoulder.

And she sang (etc)

(Sung to George and me in 1952 by Sarah Maken, Keady, Co. Armagh).
