If Amos and bearded bruce were truely opposite, then they would have opposite occupations.

Lets do an im possible thought experiment...

so lets suppose Amos is now working for a firm that depends on defense contracts, and bearded bruce is working for a publisher.
Would they still be themselves or would they politically gravitate to their polar opposites?

It goes deeper than that. It goes to the parents and each person's identity as working toward some learned common good.
