This is one of my favorite Yiddish songs, and probably my one favorite Gebirtig song. My appreciation for Mordechai Gebirtig grew by leaps and bounds a couple of years ago, when I walked the streets of the Krakow Ghetto and ate at a restaurant where I heard a klezmer band sing Gebirtig songs.
