I had heard of that Steve Goodman song, but never heard it ~ certainly not the whole thing. That sucker is LONG!!!! I'd be surprised if anyone has been able to memorize the whole thing in orer to perform it; maybe that's why we don't get to hear it often (or ever).

Steve wrote another, shorter and more upbeat, song about the Cubs that has been resurrected this year and is sung by the fans at the end of each win a Wrigley. I'm glad for Steve, and grudgingly OK with the Cubs fans' enjoyment.

If my beloved Mets can't pull themselves together and make a run, and some other team has to come out on top, I'd be glad to see Sweet Lou and Cubs break that jinx and prevail.
