I can remember very little from my first couple of years in the late 40s but I remember this as one of three lullabies my mother sang to me. Another was
Go to sleep my baby,
Close your pretty eyes,
Angels watch you while you're sleeping
You're my sweetheart.

Come to think of it she sang them both to pretty much the same tune as I remember.
