Yes, it is possible to overwhelm the BMD- THAT is why your comment of 25 Sep 08 - 06:15 PM is not significant. But in the case of either an accidental launch OR the use by a rogue state of LIMITED numbers of missiles, the system would be effective enough to save millions of lives, and possibley keep us out of a global thermonuclear war.

ANYONE with basic knowledge and access to material can build one: Do you want to have the kind of world needed to prevent ANY access to nuclear materials? No more cinder blocks ( high in thorium), nuclear medicine ( requiring reactors), etc? ANd that does NOT account for the natural deposits- I guess we need to occupy the entire world with troops to prevent the mining of those.
