SRS, passing your treasures on to your children is a really good way of decluttering -- especially if they're useful treasures. A good wool coat with a Persian lamb collar -- yum, yum. I'm still wearing a black velveteen coat my mother bought in 1958 -- its arrival is one of my earliest memories. I had a new lining put in it last year and it's as good as new. Better than new, actually; in 1956 it was ho-hum, but now it's retro and very fashionable. Among my prized possessions is a Wedgwood tea set my mother-in-law gave me when Edmund and I got engaged. I know she was decluttering, but she had the generosity to aim her really good stuff at me.
