Thread Name: Lyr Req: 'fer Christ's sake, ding ding dong!'
Subject: Lyr Req: 'fer Christ's sake, ding ding dong!'
Having discovered this forum when searching for the Pyramids monologue to check I had it right ... and being the only one with at least some idea of the words and posted it ... well I'm hoping I have more luck with answers for this request! I can't recall the title (or the originator), but it's a song that's a little similar in style to 4 Night's Drunk. In this version the unfaithful wife is having it off with her lover when her hubby returns home unexpectedly. The lover hops into the wardrobe but unfortunately traps parts of his anatomy outside between the doors. Hubby spots them and wife tries to explain them away as bells that her mother sent to her. So hubby gives them a prod but the bells don't ring. So then he pokes and prods some more, but still the bells don't ring! I think he ends up squeezing them and the punchline goes
"And the bloke inside the wardrobe says "Fer Christ's sake, ding ding dong!" Stan Hastings used to sing it in Perth WA at the Stables folk club but sadly he died many years ago. Anyone know it? I'd be grateful for the words and I could use re-exposure to the tune too!
Thanks in anticipation!
