Thread Name: favorite Irish/Scottish fiddlers?
Subject: RE: favorite Irish/Scottish fiddlers?
Thanks for sharing that, Barry. That's the kind of answer I was hoping to elicit with this thread - which Irish/Scottish fiddlers give you those special moments, who takes you to another place. If you haven't heard Laura Risk yet, I strongly suggest you go to one of her concerts. She might have a similar impact on you. She is technically brilliant, and steeped in traditional styles, but what makes her stand apart is how she uses her considerable talents. Her playing is deeply felt, and very affecting. She really knows how to interpret the music she plays. Mbo - Thanks for filling me in on your choices. I'll bet you'd like Liz Doherty, from Donegal, who has an exciting album of Irish and Cape Breton tunes called "Last Orders." She's in her twenties and is brilliant and exciting. If you don't find it in stores, Amazon.com carries it.
