Just picture the tourists at Colonial Williamsburg, say, coming out of the restaurants on Duke of Gloucester Street, their bellies full and them full of good cheer, being greeted with a noisome cart being pulled by two filthy, stinking, guys crying, "Night soil! Night soil! We'll take all the shit you can give! Clean out yer privy, guv? Only tuppence!"
