I found this thread by googling partial lyrics to this song. I am originally from Maine and that is where my family came from and this song has been a part of my family for as long as I can remember. Everyone would sing it, it would play on record albums, etc... I never truly paid much attention to it until recently.

I have relatives that span from Maine to CT, but my parents have been living in CA. My mother was diagnosed with Leukemia five years ago, and she passed away last week at the City of Hope Hospital after her body developed a huge rejection-oriented infection from a bone marrow transplant. She was a very young 64 years old and her death has been trajic for our family.

She was in the ICU in a sedated coma for three weeks before she passed away. I was there much of that time and my father had recorded her favorite songs on an iPod that played over and over again. Quand Le Soleil was a song she loved so much, he had it on there several times, and so I heard it often while I sat there holding her hand. I remember her singing it and the song has been in my head for the past month. I wanted to find the lyrics.
