I agree, online marketing makes a lot more sense, now that it is available. In the early to late 80s, I helped my brother with his classical music tapes. Consignment never worked very well. We did a lot better selling at concerts he gave. Nowadays with cdbaby, myspace, and youtube, it's so much easier to go directly to your market and not be dependent on any middle wo/men. A local contact, sure, if it's someone you know and trust, who will push your stuff. I found the same goes for books. I've sold a lot more online than in stores and I don't have to physically visit every store to coddle them along to feature my book over one some big publishing company is pushing with discounts, special displays, etc. It's a more level playing field, so to speak, online.
