A lot more people, esp. young people like my youngest daughter, are independent owing their allegiance to no specific party. Even though I've been a Dem all of my life, there were a couple of times I actually, wait are you ready for this? I actually voted for a member of the Republican party! Ohmygawd, I wasn't even smote/smited(?) with lightening or anything! Of course, that was before the GOP allowed the far wrong to take over their party.
