There's probably plenty of folk out there who get tunes but nay words; I know, I'm one of them ("You see Sir, I was that deck of cards"); but are put off it by previous trys at colaboration.

The last time I tried to put someone's poem to music for them they were very very miffed I'd changed a few words here and there, which had to be done to make the words fit the strict rhythm of song; lines of unequal length had to be either clipped or stretched to make them fit. He couldn't understand why the music couldn't take more or less time to fit his words. It got quite heated and it cost me a mate it did. Although to be fair, my first try at collaberation I even changed the rhyming rhythm and the poet was still well chuffed with the r.

Also what works for one person (the poet), their stress and accent, might not work for another person (the musician/singer); Try doing something country and western to a broad sumerset accent and you'll see what I mean.

But if your on this forum you know most of that. So as long as you're prepared for another person to make a few tweaks here and there I don't see why you shouldn't post your poem asking for it to be put to a tune and turned into a lyric. I know I'd be game for a try.

Maybe our forum needs a few extra auto-headings such as "Needs Tune" or "Needs Words"?
