Jack O'Connor recorded it on the Ding Dong Dollar LP and that's where Seeger got it from. I don't remember anyone singing it before 1959 but I'm not sure when Hamish wrote it. Josh McRae and Nigel Denver also sang it at the same time as Jack O'Connor, 1959,60,61.
