Subject: RE: Swinton (UK) Festival 17/18 October 2008
Misery - I tried to get there, I really did, but with no trains and only a replacement bus service, it really was a non-starter. The day started off well - I got a lift into Manchester with some friends who were going to the other festival (the one at G-Mex) in the morning, and I spent a pleasant morning wandering around the stalls there and listening to the music on offer - there was a wonderful didge player on stage, plus Tim Wheater. But then trying to get to Swinton was impossible, and I even had severe doubts about being able to get home as time went on (lift wasn't working at Victoria, and I had to come via a roundabout route). Have just landed home and had a cup of tea (much needed) at just turned 8pm.

I hope you didn't lose too many other people because of the train situation. My very best wishes to all the friends I'd hoped to see, many of whom I only see once a year at Swinton. It's a long time till next year, but I shall start looking forward to it now - and hope the trains are running then.
