Subject: RE: Neat interview/pickin' Del McCoury on NPR
Several years ago Del's band was in Mountain View along with another bluegrass icon (not Ralph Stanley) and the BG icon's crew called a number of times about the sound system and other things. The BG icon did not mix with his band or anyone else. Del and his band were on a different night and someone from the band called once to confirm the date. I happened to be the one who was around and could talk with them and asked if they had any special needs. I was told whatever we have would be fine. Del and the band walked into the theater together and mixed and talked with everyone in a very pleasant manner and put on an unforgettable concert. Their versions of Vincent Black Lighning and The Times They Are a-Changing work extremely well. Musicianship is incredible. Del's label recent released a CD called Moneyland with a variety of artists and a variety of songs from differnt eras relating to economic issues.
