TALKIN'FUNERAL BLUES

Went to play at a weddin' a while back
Couldn't understand why they were all in black
Woman said:"Son you got your wires crossed
It's not a son I gained but a husband I lost.
Still you got here and you brought your guitar
I'd rather hear a blues than a gospel choir.
Don't go doin' That old rugged cross
Give me Empty bed blues to show my loss
And then to further ease my mind
segue into A good man is hard to find"
So I did what she said and cut a dash
She liked my style and he'd left her cash
So when she started out the door
I begged to use a pallet on her floor
One darn thing to another led
Now she rocks me in her big brass bed
We plan to wed in church next fall
But we're not having any damn musician at all
And in my will I've made it clear
At my funeral no guitars appear
