Thread Name: Lyr Req: An Outlaw Raparee (Ropaire)
Subject: Lyr Req: Outlaw Raparee (Ropaire)
Can't seem to find any song in the archive, under a Title like this one. I rem hearing the song at a Function many years ago and liked it so much that I can still rem , accurately (or fancy I can)what was the first Verse (or perhaps the Chorus ?)
It went :
My sword is rusty, my cloak is rent,
My plume is damp with rain,
And the Thistledown and the Barleybeard
Are thick on my horse's mane.
But my rifle is bright as my true loves eye,
My arm is strong and free,
What care have I for your King and Lord,
I'm an Outlaw Raparee,
I'm an Outlaw Raparee.
Does anyone know this song? Sorry I cannot do the music but the tune is a simple one,( probably from some other even older ballad.)sung in a fast tempo
