Thread Name: song tune ID (Probably not folk)
Subject: PROBABLY NOT FOLK: song tune ID
There is a song tune that I have been wondering about for a long time. As I recall it, it goes something like this:

X: 1
T: unknown song melody
M:4/4
L:1/4
Q:190
K:C
|G4|G4|(G4|G2) BA|
G4|G4|(G4|G2) cA|
G4|A4|(B4|B2) ed|
(A4|A2) ed|c2 BA|B2 A^G|
|G4|G4|(G4|G2) BA|
G4|G4|(G4|G2) cA|
G4|_B4|(A4|A2) ed|
cG3|dG3|(c4|c)|

If you copy and paste this abc code (starting with the "X:1" line) into the window at concertina.net, and click the "submit" button, you can get the dots and listen to a midi version.

I'm pretty sure that when I heard it originally, it was a song with words. But I cannot remember any of the words. It might be a show tune.

More recently I was visiting Glen Echo Park in Maryland, and the park's Dentzel Carousel played this tune, but in 3/4 time. But the version above (in 4/4) is how I remember first hearing it.

Anybody know it?
