A Mudcat is a fish and fish don't growl.

Shame upon the author of this canard, and penance and penalties upon him as well.

Fish, and most notably catfish do growl, burp, belch, hum, sing and make great bunches of noises. Quite obviously, those who've never been truly "face to face" with a big 'un may not have heard much from them; but as fish go, catfish are rather noisy.

I suspect Spaw has been eating too many carp. The only notable noise they make is sort of a "suck" - hence the technical name "middlemanagerfish."
