I hate not being able to use the poems and photos. Maybe there will have to be a small companion volume to show where the inspiration for the fiction came from?! I suspect that by the time THAT project happens, it will be (need to be, properly be) a separate, stand-alone project. In your mind and heart, of course they are parallel, forever-entwined projects. But all art has to stand on its own two feet, for the beholder. Your art is to make it theirs as well as yours (that Chinese dish, Double Happiness). And by the time you get to that stritly-reality, documentarian view-- looking back from there to the present fictional project-- this one will have taken its place alongside all the OTHER things he inspired.
They are two projects, each to be done in its own time. A shift of viewpoint, then, will probably come out something like, "Here's my Dad's heart. It inspired so much that's important to me, including but not limited to [insert list]. His inspiration is still revealed to me on a daily basis, and a current project he inspired is [insert project in the works]....." etc.
What's the right word for a mega-ology? A lot bigger than a trilogy. Can't get ahold of it at the moment.
