I fail to understand why something I said was paired up with something someone else said as if the two had any kind of relationship to each other.

An opinion was given by the thread originator about the probability of war for each candidate if elected, and I gave my opinion in response. One has to look to the thread originator if one wants to determine motives for discussing such probabilities.
