G'day,
The first fleet was the fleet of 11 British ships under the command of Captain (then Governor) Arthur Phillip which sailed into Botany Bay on 26 January 1788. Many Australians proudly trace their ancestry to transportees of the first and subsequent fleets. Many were transported for trivial crimes.
