Thread Name: Lyr/Chords Req: If I Call You by Some Name
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: If I Call You by Some Name
It was easy to figure out a basic 3-chord arrangement. The recorded version is somewhat more complex, and beautifully so, but I haven't time at the moment to put into it. This version is definitely "performable":

If I Call You by Some Name
Rick Shorter, 1966

If I (D)call you by some (G)name that (A)perhaps is not your (D)name
Will you (D)try to under-(D7)stand that I (G)never had it planned?
But at (D)times my thoughts do slip and her (A)name comes to my lips
And I'll (D)call you by some (G)name that (A)perhaps is not your (D)name

If I look into your eyes like they're someone else's eyes,
Oh, you need not sympathize, but I wish you'd realize
That it's not been very long since the one I love's been gone,
If I look into your eyes like they're someone else's eyes.

(G)Ooh-ooh-ooh, (D)Ooh-ooh-ooh, (A)Ooh-ooh-ooh, (D)Ooh-ooh-ooh,
(G)Ooh-ooh-ooh, (D)Ooh-ooh-ooh, (A)Ooh-ooh-ooh, (D)Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-(A)ooh

If I give you all my love like I once gave all my love,
You can tell yourself at last he's forgotten all the past
And a thousand yesterdays need no longer cross your way
If I give you all my love like I once gave all my love.

Ooh-ooh-ooh, etc.

repeat verse 1.
