Hmmm, didn't expect to find anyone who knew of Chardin much less enjoyed his work.
I played hookey one spring day, while I was still in high school and living in Alabama, and took my sister to the museum. Of course, being Alabama, it's reproductions all the way, but we enjoyed the prints they did have. I still have a postcard of Chardin's Return from Market. I just thought it a lovely balance of soft light and attention to detail, I still do.
