There was a man who got a new dog and he took him out shooting by the lake. And he shot this bird on the other side of the lake, and the dog took off to bring it back - and he didn't swim at all, he just ran across the top of the water like it was dry land, and he brought the bird back and laid it at his feet.

So he rushed off to tell his friend who was a great dog expert, and he said "I've got this new dog, and I'd like to know what you think of him".

So the next time he went shooting, he brought the friend along as well, and the same thing happened - he brought down a bird across the lake, and the dog took off to bring him back, and he didn't put a toe in the water, he just ran across the surface like it was dry land, and he brought the bird back, and laid it at his feet.

"So what do you think of my dog?" he says.

And the friend shook his head, and he answered "I don't think much of him. I'd have no use for a dog that was scared of swimming."
