Goatfell - does it not occur to you that even if an Australian dictionary says 'pom' means 'prisoner of mother England', it doesn't mean it's true. The dictionary presumably doesn't provide any evidence to support the statement whereas you, in your post from Wikipedia, have shown that there is no visual or documentary evidence for it. You just want to believe it because you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about anything English.
