Thread Name: Singing is GOOD for You!
Subject: RE: Singing is GOOD for You!
I enjoyed reading that article and one associated underneath it "Musica makes ne come alive"

Seldom do I get a chance to practice harmonies but when I do it is very rewarding to get it right. Mostly I do it when listening to songs in the car - where any errant notes can do less damage to people's ears! - and it is quite relaxing in many ways. It's great fun too.

Singing - either doing it or listening to it - has so many different emotional effects but I do think the most are acheived by actually participating in the activity rather than just listening. This year I took up singing again after a 15 year abstinence. My life is all the richer for it for many of the reasons mentioned in the articles above, and more.

Brian Evo says... "I believe that singing is the key to long life, a good figure, a stable temperament, increased intelligence, new friends, super self-confidence, heightened sexual attractiveness and a better sense of humor.". Well, okay. Apart from the good figure (I doubt anything could give me THAT good!), a stable temperament, increased intelligence, super self-confidence, heightened sexual attractiveness and a better sense of humor, none of which I would lay a claim to, and some of which I do not want, I agree totally ;-)

I do have more friends through songs and music, without doubt, and that alone is a good enough reason because having friends is good for you too. Sharing an activity cannot be a bad thing either in the main. I learn things every week now I would never had known where it not for music and song. Perhaps it should be prescribed to people (and I know music therapy works as I have used it in the past on various people).

What a postive article. Thanks for pointing to it!
