Thread Name: Tape wanted for an old Grossman Book
Subject: RE: Tape wanted for an old Grossman Book
I had the great fortune of having a friend give me an old LP that was recorded by Stefan Grossman and Aurora (Rory) Block which I believe is also called "How to Play Blues Guitar." I had previously bought the book you mentioned and it gave me the start I needed, after I got the LP and could hear the songs. My LP differs from the CD that Dale mentions in that there are no vocals, it is strictly guitar solos (and a few duets) played in a demonstrational manner. The album cover itself says there is an accompanying booklet of guitar tab, but then inside was a piece of paper saying the booklet was too big to package with the record and where to send for it. I suspect the booklet eventually evolved into the book "Play Country Blues Guitar." There is one song on the LP that's not in the book and one song in the book that's not on the LP. I also suspect that the "Brownsville" song in the book is more complex than the one on the LP.

Send me your snail-mail address in a personal message or email and I'll send you a cassette of the LP. Fortunately my turntable is still working. Unfortunately the LP is not in pristine condition so you'll have to put up with some pops and crackles.
