"Our women" is used in the same sense as one would use "our gallant fighting men" or "our daughters and sons" or "our songs" -- indicating a metaphorical collective possession rather than indicating actual individual ownership (which, given the unconstitutional nature of slavery and my own repugnance to it, would make me a criminal deserving of the harshest punishment).

I realize, of course, that Things Are Different in California and so I took the time to explain my usage of the phrase.
