Some years ago I went over to Niles' place hunting the same weekend a cull was going on at Indiana's Brown County State Park (yeah, there were a LOT of deer huggers and even an attempt to show in court that the deer in the park were a separate species from the rest of the State). We shot a buck estimated to be about 2.5 years old; it dressed out 174 pounds of good meat. That weekend a buck estimated to be 2.5 years old was shot in the park; it dressed out 47 pounds of meat. Same age -- but one was in an area that was tragically overpopulated and overgrazed.
