The cynic in me says that he will get this sentence reduced on appeal. If I were his lawyer I would be claiming 15 years is manifestly excessive for a confrontation between two groups of varying levels of honesty. I myself don't know that he has any other previous convictions for crimes of this nature that could be taken into account in sentencing.

The point could be made that the court is sentencing him to extra time because he got off last time - and that doesn't wash in strict legal terms, because he does not have a criminal conviction on his record for the wife killing.

Mind you, I'm not going to miss him.
