I grew up in Howard Beach, near Kennedy (then Idlewilde, and lived in constant fear of crashing planes. Sometimes you could see the people in the planes they were so low.

So one day I go to school in Brooklyn and damned if a jet doesn't come down 1 block from my school. It had collided with another plane over Staten Island and crashed into the Pillar of Fire Church. One survivor, a little boy who landed in a snow drift, died later. Funny what you remember.
