He was the "real deal" for sure Janie. In the mid 70's the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston put Nimrod on in a Concert hall at Harvard U & it was my duty to take care of Nimrod until he went on stage & to make sure he went on sober. He went on sober & he was great but we didn't become friends, he made my few hrs with him hell. He didn't take kindly to doing a gig for the upity folks at Harvard but he did it very well none the less & with no complaints (except to me). I should've given him a bottle, he probably would've been better if not more relaxed but as the song goes "I was young & foolish". I kept thinking that this was my first meeting with a real honest to goodness traditional singer, I better not screw it up, if it were today I would've paid the bar tab after staying out with him all night & he could've drunk his fill sung his foolish head off.
