Thread Name: Tech:How do I find an older thread
Subject: RE: Tech:How do I find an older thread
Method 1:

If you remember a consecutive word or two from the title, you can put it into the box beside the "Refresh" button at the top of the page page where the list of threads is shown (The Lyrics and Knowledge "front page"). Click the arrow beside the "Age: 1 day" box and choose a time to go back that is likely to include at least the most recent post in the thread you want.

You'll get a list of threads that include the word(s) you typed, that have had posts within the selected time period.

Not that there is, I believe, a "100 thread" limit to the list returned, so a "popular term" may not get all of the threads within the entire life-span of mudcat.

Method 2:

Put a word or two in the "Lyrics and Knowledge Search" box on the home page. You can choose whether to search just in the DT database of songs, just in the forum, or both.

The Lyrics and Knowledge search is an "indexed search" and is only good for things that have been entered in the index. The index has been updated recently, but may not find very recent stuff.

Method 3:

As noted, if you posted to the thread you're wanting to find, in any other thread where you've posted - clicking on your name in the list of posts at the top of the thread will take you to your post in that thread. Clicking on your name at a post you made within a thread will show you a list of all the posts you've made.

The default for the list of your posts is "most recent at the top" so you should be able to find the thread you want in the list fairly easily. If it was one of your earliest posts, there's a place to click to invert the list to show first posts at the top.

If you didn't post to the thread but remember someone who did, you can search for all the posts by any particular member using the same method, if you can find any thread where that person has posted.

You've only posted 1480 times, so (writing the url in full for the result page when you click on your name) http://www.mudcat.org/usersearch.cfm?who=Splott%20Man will get you a fairly short list to scan.
